Vera Coate Stringer Vera Coate Stringer, 88, died at a Mobile hospital on May 9, 2008. A native and resident of Coffeeville, she was a retired bookkeeper for Stringer Masonry Contractors and a member of the First Baptist Church of Coffeeville. In her early years, she was active in R.S.V.P. and was a member of the Clarke County Historical Society. Survivors include one son, Phillip Stringer of Coffeeville; a brother, Frank Robinson of Pensacola, Fla.; four grandchildren, Prentice Stringer, Jenny Pope, Simeon Stringer and Annie Stringer; and seven great-grandchildren. Funeral services were May 13 at the First Baptist Church with the Rev. Roscoe C. Wentworth officiating. Interment was in the West Bend Cemetery in Coffeeville with Lathan Funeral Home of Jackson directing.
Active pallbearers were Wendell Hodge, Prentice Stringer, Marthon Gimre, Walt Pope, Simeon Stringer and Charlie Latham. Honorary pallbearers included Gene Guy, Darryl Harvey, Lloyd Wilson, Lundy Scruggs, Conway Dunagan and Vick Stringer.
