CALENDAR ADC will host political forum The Clarke County Chapter of the Alabama Democratic Conference invites the public to attend a political forum on Saturday, May 17, 6 p.m. at the VFW Club on Club Wiley Road in Jackson. JHS Class of 1999 plans reunion The Jackson High School Class of 1999 is planning a class reunion meeting, Saturday, May 31, 3 p.m. at Preschoolers Unlimited on Highway 43 (old skating rink). For questions and information send e-mails to JHS1999@yahoo.com. 3C Coalition will meet Saturday The 3C Coalition will meet Saturday, May 17 from 10 a.m. until 12 noon at the Mt. Olive No. 2 Baptist Church where Dr. Edsel Davis is interim pastor. All candidates are welcome to attend and will be given the opportunity to state their platforms. CCSWCD and WCSWCD board meetings The Clarke County and Washington County Soil and Water Conservation Districts have announced their respective board meetings. Clarke County's board will meet at the USDA office in Jackson on Wednesday, May 21 at 12:30 p.m. The Downtown Grill in Jackson will be the location of the Washington County board meeting Tuesday, May 27 at 6 p.m. The public is welcome to attend either or both of these events. 40th anniversary of Harper High Class of 1968 th A three-day reunion, May 29-31, will celebrate the 40 anniversary of the Harper High School Class of 1968. All classmates and faculty are invited to attend the "Meet and Greet Celebration", May 29 at the Kimbell House in Jackson beginning at 1 p.m. CCERA to holds yearend meeting The Clarke County Education Retirees Association is meeting today (Thursday) for its final meeting for the 2007-2008 year at The Grill in Thomasville. The meeting begins at 11:45 a.m. Hostesses for the meeting are Lena Carol Bishop, Alberta Dixon, Betty Heaton, Arengia Knight and Mirkerline Talley. Officers for 2008-2010 are being installed. All education retirees, members and associate members are invited to attend. SWAIA to host political forum The Southwest Alabama Improvement Association (SWAIA) monthly meeting will be Tuesday, May 20, 7 p.m. at the Jackson Steakhouse Restaurant. The meeting is entitled "Voters Empowerment: Clarke County Political Candidates Forum." This meeting will feature political candidates seeking office or re-election for city, county, state and U.S. positions. Voters will have the opportunity to question candidates regarding their platforms. Family reunion plans at Old Lock and Dam All family and friends of Ida and John Neugent, Edna and William Neugent, Adley and Henry Neugent, Lena and Earnest Neugent, Mamie and Irby Neugent, Lula and John Dunn, Becky and Bob Presnall, Alice and George Morgan and Julia and Owen DuBose are invited to take part in a family reunion. This event will take place Sunday, May 25, at the Old Jackson Lock and Dam in Jackson, 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. All are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and a covered dish. Town of Coffeeville celebrates 200 years The town of Coffeeville will celebrate 200 years of success May 31. The genealogy committee encourages every citizen of Coffeeville to display his or her heritage on that day. Furnishing a display table and cover, artifacts can be loaned to the committee to be displayed and protected and returned that day.
