Are you spiritually hungry for the Word of the Lord?
Spiritual Beliefs
E.C. Russell First Assembly of God

Acts 10:9-10 "On the morrow, as they went on their journey, and drew nigh unto the city, Peter went up upon the housetop to pray about the sixth hour: and he became very hungry..."

There are many who know nothing of real "soul-hunger", because they spend so little time in prayer. Lack of prayer is one of the greatest causes of spiritual dehydration, but much prayer creates much hunger for the Word of God, which is the bread of life.

•Prayer is asking, because we feel our need and believe that we can receive. Heb. 11:6 says, "He that cometh to God must believe that He is."

•Prayer is a constant thing. Jesus said in Luke 18:1, "Men ought to always pray."We ought to keep on praying. Just as men continue in work if they want to provide for their families, they ought to continue in prayer to grow rich in faith and grace.

•Prayer is a testing thing. Luke 18:1, "and not to faint". It is easy to grow weary in well doing. "Ye shall reap if ye faint not." Praying always and not fainting is the evidence of strong faith.

•Prayer is a profitable thing. "Ask and ye shall receive." Our Lord would never have said that "men ought always to pray" if He did not mean always to give.

If you have lost, or are losing, your appetite for spiritual things, arise and pray, and soon you will be glad to "arise and eat."
