Church Calendar 'Choir Night' celebration being hosted by Goodwill Missionary The Rev. Kevin Jackson, pastor of Mt. Olive No. 1 in Rockville, will be the guest speaker at an Annual Choir Night celebration, Saturday, May 31 at 7 p.m., hosted by Goodwill Missionary Baptist Church in Bladon Springs. The guest choir will be from the Rockbar Baptist Church of Coffeeville. The Rev. Robert L. Jackson, pastor, invites all to come and take part. Walnut Grove Missionary Baptist conducts youth day and revival The Rev. David Fuller, pastor of Walnut Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Morvin, has announced the annual youth day will be Sunday, May 18 at 2:30 p.m. Guest minister will be the Rev. Tommy Chapman, pastor of Little Rock Baptist Church in Grove Hill. The church revival will begin at 7:30 that evening and continue Wednesday, May 21 through Friday, May 23 at 7:30 nightly. Evangelist will be the Rev. Anthony Kimbrough, pastor of Bethel Baptist Church in Frankville. Walking for Christ on May 17 Family, friends and all in the community are invited to a youth health walk-a-thon beginning at Thomasville High School on Gates Drive, May 17, 8-10 a.m. The event will continue at the Walnut Grove Community Worship Center in Morvin with youth fun day. Pleasant Grove announces homecoming and revival Pastor Roger Keel invites the community to attend homecoming at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in the Winn community Sunday, June 1 at 11 a.m. Bro. William Allison, pastor of Mount Gilead Baptist Church of Jackson, will be the guest speaker. Lunch will follow. A revival will be offered at the church June 1-4 at 7 nightly. Good Hope Baptist announces upcoming events The Good Hope Baptist Church of Salitpa will be celebrating their annual Usher's Day program Sunday, May 18, during the 11 a.m. service. Guest speaker for the occasion is Minister Dennis Taylor. The program chairperson is Carrie Harmon. Musician's Appreciation Sunday will be June 1 at 2:30 p.m. The Rev. Norman Howard, pastor of Big John Missionary Baptist Church in Malcolm, along with his congregation, will be the special guest. "Adventurers in Faith: Faith Heroes" is the theme of this year's Vacation Bible School, June 2-6 at 6-8 nightly. Bishop Johnson speaks at choir day The annual choir day at Wayman Chapel Church will be May 18 at 3 p.m. Speaker for the event will be Bishop Charles Johnson of the New Jerusalem Holiness Church in Bay Minette. Dinner will be served. All choirs and soloists are asked to render an A and B selection and should register at the door. U.M.C. hosts youth rally Pastor Harold Bordages and the youth of Ebenezer U.M. Church in Wagarville invite all to hear the music of Frazier, a praise band from the United Methodist Church in Montgomery. The group will be performing at a youth rally scheduled for May 25 at 5 p.m. Prichard tent revival continues A Holy Ghost tent revival continues through Friday, May 16 at 7:30 nightly. Prayer meetings are daily at 10:30 a.m. and 6 p.m. Take I-65 and exit onto Highway 45 (exit 8). The tent will be on the corner of McGehee and Bessemer Street in Prichard. Bonnie and Billy Harrison will lead the music with services beginning at 7 p.m. and a nursery is provided. Everyone is invited to attend. St. James A.M.E. hosts Women's Day programs The Rev. Clausell Boykin, pastor at St. James A.M.E. Church in Choctaw Bluff, announces a Women's Day program will be offered on Sunday, May 18 at 11 a.m. with Sis. Deborah R. George as the speaker. In the afternoon at 2:30, the speaker will be Sis. Maxine Stallworth. Jackson Male Chorus celebrates anniversary The Jackson Male Chorus will be celebrating their 11th anniversary, Saturday, May 17 at Mt. Olive No. 2 Church of Jackson at 6:30 p.m. This event will climax at St. Union Baptist Church at 3 p.m. on Sunday, May 18.
All groups, choirs and soloists are asked to present an A and B selection. The community is invited to attend and take part in the celebration.
