Lady Aggies swept by Ashford in first round
By Chris Sherman SA Sports Writer

The Jackson Lady Aggies were swept in the first round of the sub state by Ashford Tuesday, May 6, to end the year with a 24-16 record.

"We were up and down a lot this season," Aggie coach Bob Bumpers said.

"We just had a lot of things go on behind the scenes that affected us. We had a tough year where we spent more time worrying about things other than softball."

Ashford knocked off the Aggies 7-3 in the first game of the series. Danielle Gill took the loss for Jackson. Brittanee Crayton had two hits, Nateline Moseley had two hits while Savannah Autry added one base hit.

In the nightcap, Ashford eliminated the Aggies by a score of 6-3.

Bridget Chancey took the loss on the hill.

Crayton banged out two more hits while Chancey, Anna Meitzler and Megan Alford had one hit each.

"We didn't play well at all yesterday," Bumpers said.

"I don't know what the reason was, we just didn't play very well.

" We do have a good nucleus coming back in next year's team. So hopefully we can learn and improve."
