Area students receive scholarships at ASCC dinner

Alabama Southern Community College (ASCC) conducted a dinner Monday, April 28, at its Thomasville campus to honor high school and current ASCC students who have received Advanced Technology Scholarships through the college's alliance with area industries.
Students received scholarships through Alabama River Pulp, Boise, CIBA, Olin and Weyerhaeuser. Those attending included Dr. John Johnson ASCC president; Jamil Stanton (Monroe County High School); Brenda Morrisette (ASCC); Matthew Reeves and James Harrell (Jackson High School); Cameron Dunagan (Clarke Prep); and Caleb Harrison (Clarke County High School); Evelyn Johnson, ARP scholarship director; and Pete Black, ARP mill manager.
Advanced Technology Scholarships are available to high school graduates and experienced workers seeking a new career. Scholarships are offered in paper and chemical technology, instrumentation and electronics, electrical and industrial maintenance.
