Poet laureate visits Library Reader's Club

Professor Sue Brannan Walker, poet laureate of Alabama, recently paid a visit to Jackson in preparation for the 11th Annual Alabama Writer's Symposium, which was conducted May 1-3 in Monroeville.
Addressing members of the recently-formed Library Reader's Club on April 21, she related experiences as poet laureate of Alabama and read passages from her latest work, "Whatever Remembers Us: An Anthology of Alabama Poetry."
The Library Reader's Club was formed to increase local participation in the symposium. Several members have expressed an interest in expanding into a more permanent group beginning around the fall of the year. Interested parties should contact Wayne Roney and the White Smith Memorial Library.
