Marveline Boroughs

Marveline Boroughs, died April 24, 2008, in a health care facility in Citronelle at the age of 81. A native of Hawthorne and former resident of Midfield, she was a retired clerk from K-Mart and a member of Ebenezer United Methodist Church of Wagarville.

Survivors include two sons, Marvin Lewis "Buck" (Juanita) Boroughs Jr. of Bessemer and Joseph Lloyd (Edith) Boroughs of Huachuca City, Ariz.; devoted niece and caretaker, Virginia Henderson of Citronelle; nine grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were April 26 at Ebenezer United Methodist Church with Bros. George Weaver and Harold Bordages officiating. Interment was in the church cemetery under the direction of Lathan Funeral Home of Jackson.

Pallbearers were J.W. "James" Henderson, Bobby Younge, Johnny Younge, Kent Younge, Jim Cullen and Michael Bearden. Honorary pallbearers included Edward Younge, Terry Flowers, Jason Trujillo, Danny Williams and Garry Jordan.

LaShawna Reneé Jones

LaShawna Reneé Jones, a native of Mobile and resident of Chatom, died April 28, 2008 in an automobile accident in Lincoln, at the age of 23. She was a member of the Chatom Church of God.

Survivors include her father, Woody Jones Jr. of Fairview; her mother, Fay (Ronnie) Lambert of Chatom; two brothers, Michael Shawn Blakeney of Phenix City and Buddy Lynn Jones of Chatom; and her grandparents, Carrie and George Smith of Chatom.

Funeral services were April 30 in the chapel of Lathan Funeral Home in Chatom with Naomi Black and Pastor Darrel League officiating. Interment was in the church cemetery with Lathan Funeral Home of Chatom directing

Pearline Palmer

Pearline Palmer, a native of Mississippi and resident of Chatom, died April 27, 2008 at her residence at the age of 85. She was a homemaker and a member of the Reynolds Church.

Survivors include eight sons, Willie Paul Palmer, Kenneth Palmer and Joseph "Joey" Palmer, all of Chatom, Wilson Palmer of Bay Minette, Ronald Palmer of San Antonio, Texas, Stanley Palmer of New Orleans, La., Danny Joe Palmer of Mobile and Charles Palmer of Fruitdale; five daughters, Lanell Beech, Sharon Sikes and Sherri Dees, all of Chatom, Glenda Faye Blackmon of Bay Minette and Tonya Mosley of Stapleton; 18 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were April 29 at the Reynolds Church of Chatom with the Rev. Henry Shephard officiating. Interment was in the church cemetery with Lathan Funeral Home of Chatom directing.

Active pallbearers are Mitchell Palmer, Michael Palmer, Daryl Palmer, Patrick Mosley, Jimmy Palmer, Timmy Palmer, Randy Palmer and Sawyer Dees. Honorary pallbearers included her granddaughter, great-grandchildren, Estelle Reynolds, Mrs. Matt Dearmon and Joy Busby.

Bernice Dunagan Parden

Bernice Dunagan Parden, died April 25, 2008 at the age of 87 at her residence in Jackson. A native of Coffeeville, she was a homemaker and a member of the Bethel Baptist Church in Coffeeville.

Survivors include two sons, Jerry A. (Patricia) Parden of Coffeeville and James Levi (Pat) Parden of Fairhope; two daughters, Bernice Paulette (Tom) Brooks of Coffeeville and Patsy Jo (Charles) Burge of Jackson; one brother, Henry Dunagan of Coffeeville; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were April 28 at the Ulcanush Baptist Church in Coffeeville with the Revs. Warren Shewmake and William Allison officiating. Interment was in the church cemetery with Lathan Funeral Home of Jackson directing.

Active pallbearers were Greg Autry, Jamie Johnson, Shane Parden, Robert Galbraith, Marlow Bennett, Bruce Mathers and Johnny Autry. Honorary pallbearers included Norman Downey, Alton Wiggins, Donnie Lee Parden, Willie Parden, Grant Parden, James Dunagan, LeRoy Dunagan, Steve Williams, Gary Williams and Quitman Parden.

James Thomas Brown

James Thomas Brown, 65, of Coffeeville, died April 26, 2008 at Grove Hill Memorial Hospital.

Survivors include his wife, Luberta Brown of Coffeeville; two daughters, Shelby (Franklin) Grayson and Stephanie (B.J.) Boykin, both of Coffeeville; two sons, James (Carol) Brown Jr. of Mobile and Brad Brown of Coffeeville; two brothers, Cecil Brown of Boston, Mass. and Frank (Clara) Brown of Coffeeville; two sisters, Annie (Ezell) Coats of Coffeeville and Ethel Lemay of Roxbury, Mass.; seven grandchildren and one great-grandson.

Funeral services are Saturday, May 3, with viewing from 12 noon to the funeral hour at 1 p.m. at the Greater Ebenezer Baptist Church in Coffeeville. Interment will be in the church cemetery with Jackson Memorial Funeral Home directing.

Ludie Alston Stone

Ludie Alston Stone, 93, of Thomasville, died April 24, 2008 at Jackson Health Care Facility in Jackson. A native of Magnolia, she was a former secretary with the U.S. Air Force. A graduate of Magnolia High School, Ms. Stone was a member of the Magnolia United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her mother, Willie Henderson Alston; father, Nathaniel Lowery Alston; husband, Phillip W. Stone; brother, Cecil J. Alston; sister, Margaret Alston Pope; and niece, Betsy Parker Ott.

Graveside funeral services were April 26 with the Rev. James Morgan officiating.

Survivors include, her sister, Emma Alston Parker of Thomasville; a niece, Cecilia Alston Adams; and numerous other relatives.

Services were directed by O'Bryant Chapel Funeral Home in Thomasville.
