Huggins announces council re-election bid
"It has been an honor and a privilege to serve the people of District 2 and all of Jackson," said Huggins. Elected to the council in 2000, during this tenure he served as chairman of the recreation committee and worked with the mayor and other council members to implement an after school tutoring program called CSI (Continuous School Improvement). "During my tenure on the council we have had several new businesses that are evidence of this mayor and this council's leadership. It was a pleasure to work with other city officials and people from throughout the city to improve the quality of life in our city," he said. "I feel like the experience I have gained in city government during the past eight years and the contacts I have made with officials at all levels of government will help me to better serve the people of Jackson during a third term if they see fit to re-elect me." Huggins believes the city of Jackson is on the verge of the greatest period of growth it has ever seen. "I believe my involvement in our city government the last eight years and my vision for what our city can become, make me the most qualified candidate to help other officials to lead us into this exciting time in the life of our city. "I plan to personally visit with as many people in my district as I can between now and election day to see what is on their minds," Huggins added.
He and his wife, Sherry, have four children, Luke, Jenny, Cole and Rachel. They attribute their children's success to the values, leadership and opportunities presented to them by the city of Jackson. "I am dedicated to improving the quality of life for the son I'm raising now, Keith, and for all the children of the city
