Little League kicks off season

Pine City's Tucker Batley stretches out in an attempt to tag Boise's Shade Weaver in the first game of the Little League season Saturday.
The Jackson Little League season opened up Saturday, April 12, despite threatening weather early that morning. The rain didn't keep fans and family from packing out the park as Mayor Richard Long kicked off the festivities by tossing out the first pitch.

9-10 year old

Opening day results

Pine City 11, Boise 3

Eastwood Thomas picked up the win for Pine City in the league's opening game to help his team improve to 1-0. Claude Pearson was 3-3 and Josh Carpenter 2-2 with a double , while Tucker Batley and Blake Roland added one hit each for Pine City.

Shade Weaver collected Boise's only hit.

State Farm 7, Merchants 3

Jakerrian Woodyard picked the win on the hill and went 2-2 at the plate to lead State Farm to a 7-3 win over Merchants. Sam Sellers had a double and Tucker Faust added a single in the winning effort.

Dylan Allen was 2-2 while Micah Meitzler, Chase Butts and Jacob Pritchett added singles for Merchants.

New Era 8, Dales 6

New Era knocked off Dale's 8- 6 in the nightcap Saturday. Phillip Fuller picked up the win on the mound. Andrew Wade, Brandon Lang and George Skipper collected hits for New Era.

Will Raybon led Dale's with a 2-3 night while Wade Sullivan chipped in with a single.

11-12 year old

Opening day results

Fire Dept. 2, Rotary 1

Khalil Lang singled in Caleb Elmore in the top of the seventh to lift Fire Department past Rotary 2-1. Elmore had reached base on a double. Daniel Smith picked up the win on the mound and had a single at the plate.

Kirk Poellnitz was 2-2 for Rotary, collecting their only hits.

Napa 5, Moseley 1

Caleb Anderson went 2-3 with a double and was the game's winning pitcher as Napa topped Moseley 2-1. William Overstreet was 2-3 for Napa. Chase Gunter and Tyler Hayes added singles for Moseley.

State Farm 9,

South Alabamian 6

Nathan Hawk was 2-4 with a triple and picked up the win on the hill as State Farm held onto a 9-6 lead over South Alabamian. Chris Taylor was 2-3 with a triple and homer; Brandon Christianson had a double and single while Turner Harrison and Alex Argo added singles.

Patrick Harbuck and Adam Powell tripled, Drake Stringer doubled and Mark Bush singled for South Alabamian.

Monday April 7

9-10-year-old results

Pine City 8, Merchants 3

Pine City improved to 2-0 with a 8-3 win over Merchants Monday, April 7. Eastwood Thomas doubled and picked up the win on the mound. Claude Pearson was 2-2 with a double, Tucker Batley doubled and Blake Bolen and Josh Carpenter singled for Pine City.

Micah Meitzler tripled while Ryan Salter, Dylan Allen and Jacob Pritchett singled for Merchants.

Boise 11, New Era 4

Boise picked up its first win of the season with an 11-4 victory over New Era. Taylor Roberts picked up the win on the mound.

J. Kidd singled for Boise. Phillip Fuller had a single and a triple and Chase Newton tripled for New Era.

Dale's 18, State Farm 13

Dale's improved to 1-1 with 18-13 slugfest win over State Farm. Destrian James homered while Will Raybon, Wade Sullivan, Dylan Turner and Kevin Gunter singled for Dale's. Justin Moore and Tucker Faust were 2-3, Jakerrian Woodyard and Samual Baker tripled, Sam Sellers and Christopher Spears singled and Charlie Jones added a single and triple for State Farm.
