Bolen announces bid for re-election to Jackson council seat
"It has been an honor and privilege to serve the citizens of Jackson for the past four years. I feel that the experience I've gained while working with the mayor, council and city staff will only continue to benefit the citizens of Jackson. "By working together as a team, we have accomplished a tremendous amount of success for our community," Bolen said. He noted that there is still work to be done to continue improving the area and pledges to do all that he can to continue moving the city in a positive direction. First elected in 2004, Bolen has worked with the council and community on numerous projects to prepare the foundation for continued growth. "The city of Jackson is a shining star in Southwest Alabama and we must be prepared for the opportunities that exist. We cannot sit back and hope that the opportunities find us but we must be progressive and proactive in order to benefit from all of the growth in Southwest Alabama. I commit to continue to be actively involved in preparing the city for these opportunities. "With these wonderful opportunities that exist, there will also certainly be challenges that exist. We must make sure that we do not back away from these opportunities because of the challenges. We must face the challenges head on and in the process create a better community not only for new citizens but for the citizens that already call Jackson home. I feel that my experience on the council and also my business experience will continue to benefit the city in the years to come." Bolen said that he feels it is important to continue to actively recruit retail, commercial and industrial development projects for Jackson. "In order to successfully recruit these types of developments, we must have an over all attractive quality of life in Jackson. If elected, I commit to continue to work to improve the city's recreational opportunities, senior services, health care services and education systems." Bolen is a lifelong resident of Jackson and a 1987 graduate of Jackson High School. He received a bachelor of science degree in business administration from the University of South Alabama in 1993. He is employed with Gilley Land Company, LLC in Jackson and is responsible for marketing and land acquisitions. A 23-year veteran of the Jackson Volunteer Fire Department, he has served as an officer for the past 12 years. He currently serves on the Jackson Facility Committee and Jackson's Planning Commission. He is a member of the First Baptist Church.
"I would appreciate your vote and support in the upcoming election."
