Agents with the Alabama Beverage Commission (ABC) and officers with the Clarke County Sheriff's Department seized, March 27, a large illegal moonshine still in the Morvin area.

The still was estimated to produce more than $100,000-a-year of untaxed whiskey, said Ron Baggette, chief investigator with the sheriff's department. At the scene there were 660 gallons of sour mash, 600 lbs. of sugar, 200 lbs. of corn, 100 plastic containers, 12 barrels and 14 gallons of moonshine.

There was also a 500-gallon cooker seized in the raid.

Arrested was Emanuel Tate for the possession of the illegal still, which is a felony under Alabama law, Baggette said.

The seizure operation consisted of agents with ABC, and Baggette, K-9 Deputy Jim Mundie, and Deputy Chris Whitfield of the Sheriff's Department.
