Citizens asked to help clean up county

The Clarke County Citizens Against Litter Committee needs your help. April is the statewide cleanup month. The committee is asking every citizen in Clarke County to pick up litter if physically able.

Citizens are asked to take one large garbage bag and fill it with litter in their area. If everyone will do this, Clarke County can be a cleaner county. For a bag or (bags) contact Rita Wilson at 251-276-3358.

"Please care about your county and help," said Wilson. "Please Don't Litter!"

Jackson plans annual cleanup

The Jackson Area Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring its annual Spring Clean-Up. The anti-litter campaign will take place April 19-25. What better way to begin the new season than to pick up litter in your neighborhood or around your business.

"Our Spring Clean-Up will provide a way for community members to become involved in the city of Jackson and gain more personal pride," said Chamber Director LaShaunda Holly.

On Saturday, April 19 at 8 a.m. the Jackson Area Chamber of Commerce will have a light breakfast to celebrate the Spring Clean-Up kickoff. Come by the Chamber office from 10 a.m-4 p.m., Monday through Friday, to register your business or club/organization. After registration, the Chamber will make sure you receive the appropriate number of garbage bags, gloves and vests. (Materials available only while supplies last, so register on time.)
