The past week has been a busy one for Jackson firefighters and police thanks to several fires and wrecks.

Fires destroy homes

On Friday, March 28, fire destroyed a residence located off St. Joseph Road in Carlton around 10:20 a.m. Jackson firefighters responded to the scene, but were unable to save the small house. Alma Fire Department also responded and were kept on standby.

Fire destroyed the 130 Willis Street home of Lucille DuBose Monday, March 31, around 6:05 p.m. Jackson firefighters responded with trucks 1, 2, 3, 4, 7 and 8, and were on the scene for 3-1/2 hours.

The cab of an M&M Port-OLets truck caught fire behind the Pumphouse Car Wash on Highway 43, Saturday afternoon. Trucks 2 and 4 responded. Assistant Chief Bobby Brooks was also on the scene.

Truck overturns,

injures driver

While en route back to the station from the truck fire at the Pumphouse Car Wash, Saturday around 2 p.m., Jackson firefighters received a call that a truck had overturned on Clolinger Road in the Paul Parham Industrial Park.

According to Jackson Police reports, the driver of the truck, Dale DuBose Gillmore Jr., 23, of Jackson, apparently failed to negotiate a curve, causing the 18-wheeler to overturn onto the shoulder of the road. The truck was owned by Evergreen Transportation and was hauling paper rolls from Boise's sheeter operation.

Gillmore received what appeared to be non-life-threatening injuries and was transported by ambulance to Jackson Medical Center for treatment.

Officer Jason Thomas investigated.

Two injured in crash

Two Jackson residents received what appeared to be minor injuries in a two-vehicle crash, March 30, around 10:30 a.m., at the intersection of College Avenue and Cleveland Street.

According to Jackson Police reports, Troy Jones, 80, was injured when his 2001 Chevrolet apparently pulled into the path of a 1998 GMC pickup driven by Kellia Doss, 31.

Doss also received injuries. Both injured parties refused transportation to Jackson Medical Center for treatment, according to the report.

Officer Brian Clark investigated.
