Lady Aggies play 'small ball' to upend Leroy

The Jackson High School Lady Aggies knocked off Clarke County and Leroy this week to improve to 13-8 on the year.

JHS 9, CCHS 1 After two scoreless innings against the Clarke County Bulldogs, the Lady Aggies exploded for two in the third, three in the fourth and three in the fifth to take out CCHS.

Danielle Gill picked up the win on the mound scattering three hits and striking out seven Bulldogs.

Brittanee Crayton had a big day at the plate knocking in three RBIs while going 3-4. Megan Alford had a single and Gill had a homer to round out the hitting for the Aggies.

JHS 3, Leroy 0

The Aggies and the No. 10 Leroy Bears had a classic pitchers' duel Thursday, March 20 in Leroy. Bridget Chancey and Leroy's Meg Smith both had outstanding games.

Chancey allowed just two hits and fanned eight Bears to pick up the win. Smith was working on a perfect game heading into the sixth inning when the Aggies bunted their way to victory with three straight bunts that worked to perfection.

Smith struck out six Aggies while scattering two hits and giving up one earned run in the loss.

Savannah Autry was 1-1 with a RBI and Anna Meitzler beat up two infield singles to lead the Aggies at the plate.

Megan Goldman and Kristian Atchison had the Bears' two hits.

Jackson travels to Montgomery Friday, March 28 to take part in the Montgomery Classic.

They will be back home Monday, March 31 for a big area game against the Escambia County Blue Devils.
