Golfers can win $30k at benefit

Golfers from throughout west Alabama are invited to Linden Rotary Club's benefit tournament where they can win $30,000 for a hole in one Saturday, April 26.

The big prize hole will be a short 135 yards and several other par three holes will have additional hole in one prizes.

Linden's charity golf tournament has been noted for it's fabulous door prizes in the past and this year should be even better, according to Rob Wynne, club tournament chairman.

Registration opens at 11 a. m. with a barbecue lunch. The shotgun scramble begins at 12 noon.

This will be team play -- four per team. Golfers can form their own team or bring their average score for 18 holes and be placed on a team. Complimentary beverages will be on the course. After play is completed, golfers will be treated an awards banquet where winners of the tournament will be announced. Cash prizes will be awarded for the longest drive on two par five holes and closest to the pin on two par three holes.

Benefiting from this tournament will be Camp ASCA (Easter seals camp for crippled children and adults on Lake Martin), the Rotary Youth Leadership Academy, local scholarships, contributions to Rotary Foundation where international charities are funded, and the eradication of Polio world wide.

Golf carts are limited at the Linden Country Club so visiting golfers are urged by Wynne to bring their own carts.

Entry fees are $50 per golfer. A modest donation enters one in the competition for the $30,000 prize and the other hole in one prizes and longest drive prizes.

To reserve your team's spot, send the names and entry fees to Rob Wynne, Linden Rotary Golf Tournament, Box 480369, Linden, AL 36748. Make checks payable to the Linden Rotary Club.
