UAB offers Leroy QB full scholarship for football
By Andrew Bone Scoutsouth.com

Clint Moseley, quarterback from Leroy is getting noticed by several schools. He was excited Tuesday when his team won an area baseball game and the first scholarship offer finally arrived. .

"I got a phone call after our game last night from coach [Tyson] Helton at UAB," Clint Moseley said. "He offered me a scholarship. It was my first offer. It came as a shock to me. I was surprised. I wasn't really thinking about it because we just beat Excel."

"Coach Helton really didn't give me a chance to say much. He said to keep them in mind. It's really a great feeling. It's a scholarship. I don't think it has really sunk in yet.

"Most people didn't really think it was a big deal. Everyone expected me to get offers. I was looking for a congratulations, but most people were just saying I would get bigger ones. I was really excited. My mom, dad and I were all very happy."

Moseley also stars on the baseball diamond for the Leroy Bears as a starting pitcher and shortstop.

"The baseball season is in full swing," he said. "We are doing well right now. We started out perfect at 12-0 and No.1 in the state. We got beat by Jackson, a 4A team. We then lost the night after prom. We are 13-2. We play Southern Choctaw Friday in an area game."

"I am still receiving a ton of letters. Coach Geoff Collins, who was at Alabama, is now at Central Florida. Central Florida is sending me a lot of stuff. Alabama, Ole Miss and Mississippi State have all asked for me to call them. I have been receiving interest from some Ivy League and military schools as well.

"I know I am going to attend Alabama's camp. I want to make a trip to Mississippi State as well. I would like to attend maybe three or four camps. I plan on attending the Scout camp at Auburn."

When asked favorites Moseley replied, "Alabama is high up there on my list. It's so early. I am completely openminded. I am going to give everyone a shot. I am just mentioning Alabama because I grew up a fan and have been up there so much."
