Fugitive caught by McIntosh Police A work release inmate who ran away from a Washington County trash pickup crew is once again behind bars. Shane Scott Philip Jordan, 36, of Brewton, misidentified in last week's edition as Shane Scott Phili, was captured Friday, March 21, by McIntosh Police officers Brad Singleton and Lt. Charles Koger. The officers found him hiding in an abandoned mobile home located on Pat Lane Circle in McIntosh. Jordan shed his orange jumpsuit and ran from the road crew on the afternoon of March 13, when the crew's supervisor went to the transport van to retrieve a box. A massive manhunt involving law enforcement officers from both Washington and Clarke counties ensued, but was scaled back after a day or so when the suspect was not found. The Washington County Sheriff's Department continued to follow-up on leads. According to Washington County Chief Deputy Terry Beasley, Jordan was found around 10:30 a.m. after the officers received information that he was in the area. "They checked several vacant buildings and houses and found him staying in the empty trailer," he said. After he was apprehended, Beasley said Jordan stated he had stayed in the McIntosh area following his escape from the road crew.
In addition to his original charge of second degree theft of property, Jordan now faces a charge of second degree escape. He is being held on $5,000 bond.
