Fire smokes up Highway 43
 | | The Jackson Fire Department responded to a fire on U.S. Highway 43 at the old pallet plant located just south of Preschoolers Unlimited, Monday, March 24, shortly before 2 p.m. Smoke covered the highway for a short while, slowing traffic, which was controlled by Jackson Police. According to Jackson Fire Chief Neal Bradley, sparks caused by some cleanup work being done at the old pallet plant led to the brush and grass between the buildings and highway igniting. Winds caused the fire to quickly spread. Trucks 1, 2, 4 and 6 responded. Chief Bradley and Assistant Chief Bobby Brooks were on the scene. (SA photo by Evan Carden) |
