Eagles top Patrician, fall to Meadowview The Jackson Academy Eagles defeated the Patrician Academy Saints but lost to the Meadowview Christian Trojans to move to 5-6 on the 2008 season. The Eagles are still inconsistent defensively and at the plate but are still slowly improving around a strong pitching staff. JA has a better team than they've shown and have still yet to play their best ball. JA 8, Patrician 7 Thanks to a solid five-inning outing by Eagle ace Logan Barnes, the Jackson Academy Eagles were able to defeat PA 8-7 in Butler giving the Eagles their second win over the Saints this year. Barnes pitched five innings with one strikeout and one walk while scattering eight hits to earn the win. Colt Ready picked up the save giving up only one hit over the final two innings while striking out two batters. Dillon Bryd led the Eagles at the plate with a 3-4 performance that included a double, a stolen base and three RBIs. Max Harrell was 2-3 with two runs scored; Dent Beard 2-3 with two RBIs while Wesley Harris, Jamie Rone and Trey Lambard collected one hit each for the Eagles. Meadowview 3, JA 2 The Eagles struggled early against the Meadowview Christian Trojans as MCA won 3-2. None of the Trojans' runs were earned as the Eagles suffered four errors on defense. Rone went the distance on the mound for the Eagles striking out two while allowing eight hits. JA's offense came primarily from Ready, who was 1-3 with a two-run homer, his second of the year. The Eagles' only other hit came from Beard who went 1- 2 on the night. Jackson Academy was scheduled to travel to Toxey to take on the South Choctaw Academy Rebels Tuesday, March 18. JA travels to Waynesboro, Miss. to play Wayne Academy tonight (Thursday, March 20).
Saturday the Eagles are hosting the Monroe Volunteers before hitting the road again Monday for a scheduled game against Coosa Valley.
