Visits state capitol
Members of the inaugural Alfa Leaders Class held their first meeting March 11-13, which included a visit to the state capitol. While there, they attended a public hearing on the Family Farm Preservation Act and met with legislators, urging them to support the bill. Class members also participated in a joint workshop with the Alabama Forestry Association's Leadership Program, and they attended various workshops aimed at encouraging volunteer involvement and activism. The program is a structured, two-year training program for Farmers Federation members ages 25-45 that assists with personal and professional development in the areas of agricultural policy, industry leadership and organizational involvement.
