Odom semifinalist in singing competition

Catherine Odom
University of Mobile sophomore Catherine Odom of St. Stephens, was a semi-finalist in the Second Year College Women category at the 2008 National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS) Student Auditions for Alabama. The auditions were held Feb. 22-23 inTuscaloosa.

Odom, a music major, is the daughter of Cathy and Frankie Odom of St. Stephens. The 2006 graduate of Leroy High School is a member of First Baptist Church of Jackson.

Each year, students across Alabama, Florida and Georgia attend Student Auditions sponsored by the NATS Southeastern region. The competitions offer students of NATS members encouragement toward the preparation of an appropriate repertoire, stimulation toward vocal and musical growth, the opportunity to sing before qualified and impartial judges to receive careful and constructive criticism, and public recognition of musical talent and vocal achievement.

The University of Mobile is a private university affiliated with the Alabama Baptist State Convention.
