Church Calendar Sunrise service offered by Good Hope Baptist The Good Hope Baptist Church of Salitpa will be having an early morning sunrise service beginning at 6. The church family and the Rev. Derrick Powell invite all to attend. Worship services announced at First United Methodist The First United Methodist Church of Jackson will conduct several special worship services this week. Tonight (Thursday) at 6:30, a Holy Thursday service will be celebrated and Friday's Good Friday service will also be at 6:30 p.m. Easter Sunday activities include a sunrise service at Salitpa United Methodist Church at 7 a.m.; two worship times will be offered in Jackson, one at 9 and the second at 11 a.m. and a fellowship hour from 10 - 11. Special music will be presented by the Chancel Choir at 7, 9 and 11 a.m. The Rev. Jim DuFriend, pastor, invites the public to attend. First Presbyterian observing Maundy Thursday A Maundy Thursday service will be observed at the First Presbyterian Church in Jackson on Thursday evening (tonight) at 6 o'clock. This is the annual service that comes each year on the Thursday before Easter Sunday. Everyone is invited to attend the service and the observance of Holy Communion. The Rev. Sid Leak is pastor. Pastor's Aid Club sponsors musical program The Pastor Aid Club of the Mt. Shady A.M.E. Zion Church will sponsor a musical program Sunday, March 30 at 3 p.m. All are invited to attend or participate. Spring Hill Baptist presents 'Then Came the Morning' Spring Hill Baptist Church in Chatom will present the cantata "Then Came the Morning" on Easter Sunday morning at 11 a.m. "The musical reminds you through the Easter story that whatever the need, whatever the heartache, Jesus is the only one who can touch and change a life," said Pastor Kenneth Henson. Sunrise service will be at 7 a.m. Musical program to be presented March 30 The Mt. Olive No. 1 Church of Rockville will be presenting a musical program March 30 at 2 p.m. The Rev. Peter Rocker will be the guest speaker. Guest groups will include the Jackson Male Chorus, the St. Union Male Chorus of Washington County, the Dedication and others, said Pastor Kevin Jackson. Peniel Baptist celebrates Easter Pastor Shannon Moses announced a 7 a.m. Easter sunrise service Sunday, March 23 at Peniel Baptist Church. There will be no evening service. Choir anniversary at James Chapel An anniversary celebration will be conducted for the choir at James Chapel Baptist Church of Barlow Bend on Saturday, March 22 at 7 p.m. Guest speaker will be the Rev. Brian Chapman, pastor of Vernon Chapel Baptist Church. Sunrise service at First Baptist St. Stephens Pastor David Albritton invites the community to a 6:30 a.m. sunrise service on Sunday, March 23 at the First Baptist Church of St. Stephens. All are encouraged to come and enjoy the music and a continental breakfast. Seven statements of Christ on the cross are focus of St. James A.M.E. service The St. James A.M.E. Oak Grove Baptist announces upcoming events Oak Grove Baptist Church in the Chilton community will celebrate Easter with a sunrise service Sunday, March 23 at 6:30 a.m., followed by breakfast and morning worship at 8:30 a.m. The Rev. Evergreen Baptist hosts gospel singing There will be a gospel singing at Evergreen Baptist Church on Sunday, March 30, beginning at 6 p.m. Mickey J. Nealey of Huntsville, Buddy Cook of Hotrock, Tenn. and Patricia and Mike Smith of Jackson will be the featured singers. A love offering will be taken. Everyone is invited to come and join in. Wild game meal and gospel singing at Mount Gilead On March 29 at 5 p.m. the Mount Gilead Baptist Church in Walker Springs will host a wild game meal and gospel singing. The evening begins with the meal and is followed by the gospel singing talents of Doug and Lydia Moesta of Pensacola, Fla. The duo's music ministry has taken them throughout the United States, Canada, Jamaica and Guatemala to venues including RV resorts, TV radio, conferences, schools and prisons. They represent World Vision. Pastor William Allison and the Mount Gilead Church family invite everyone to come and enjoy the evening. 'At The Cross' to be presented at New Canaan New Canaan Baptist Church will host the Easter production "At The Cross," Sunday, March 23 at 10 a.m. Pastor Van Williams Sr. invites all to come and take part. A spring revival will be conducted March 24-28 at 7 nightly. The guest speaker for this event will be the Rev. Kelvin Maye, pastor of Williams Chapel Baptist Church of Mt. Vernon. Stave Creek sets VBS date Power Lab "Discovering Jesus' Miraculous Power" will be the theme of this year's Vacation Bible School at Stave Creek Baptist Church in Jackson. The Children's Ministry at the church has set the date for June 9-13 from 5:45-8:30 p.m. Children can be registered early for this event on June 8 at 5:45 p.m. New St. Matthew hosts spring revival The New St. Matthew Baptist Church of the Lilly Valley community of Jackson will present a spring revival March 24-26 at 7 nightly. Elder James Richardson, pastor of the Winn A.O.H. Church of Winn, will be the evangelist. Pastor Kevin Boykin Sr. invites all to attend. Rev. Powell to speak at Men and Women's Day program The Rev.
