Lady Aggies improve to 9-5
JHS 15, Florala 0 The Aggies started off the tournament with a 15-0 rout over the Florala Lions behind Savannah Autry's 3-4 night at the plate with a double and two RBIs. Jackson sprinted out to a 10-0 lead after twoinnings. Bridget Chancey (5-4, 1.58 ERA, 47K) picked up the win on the mound tossing a onehitter in two-innings while striking out three Lions. Anna Meitzler came on in relief and tossed a no-hitter over the final two innings. Megan Alford was 1-1 with a RBI; Chancey 1-2 with a RBI; Ashley Brannon 1-3 with a RBI; Nateline Moseley 2-4 with four runs scored; Danielle Gill 1-3 with a RBI; Meitzler 2-3 with two RBIs and Ashley Jordan added a hit. Straughn 2, JHS 0 Danielle Gill went fiveinnings and only allowed two runs but it wasn't enough to knock off the Straughn Tigers. Chancey picked up the only hit for the Aggies with a triple. JHS 11, Greenville 5 Jackson scored five runs in the second and six in the third to knock-off the Greenville Tigers 11-5. Chancey picked up the win on the mound. Meitzler was 2-2 with two RBIs; Autry 1-2 with a RBI; Brannon 1-2; Moseley 2-3 with two RBIs; Tiffany Beckham 1-3; Gill 1-3 and Jordan 2-2 for the Lady Aggies. JHS 13, CCHS 5 Chancey knocked in four RBIs on a 3-3 night to lead the Lady Aggies to a 13-5 thrashing of the Clarke County Bulldogs. Gill went twoinnings on the mound striking out three Bulldogs while only allowing two hits to pick up the win on the hill. Brittanee Crayton was 2-3; Autry 1-3 with a RBI; Beckham 2-3 with a RBI; and Jordan picked up an RBI on two hits to lead the Aggies. JHS 3, Andalusia 2 Jackson rallied from a 2-0 deficit in the bottom of the fifth to pick up a 3-2 win over host Andalusia. The Aggies scored two in the top of the sixth and one in the the seventh. Chancey picked up another win on the mound tossing a three-hitter through seveninnings while striking out five Bulldogs. Moseley had a triple while Chancey, Gill, Meitzler and Jordan picked up one hit each. JHS 8, Samson 7 The Aggies picked up their fifth win of the tournament behind Gill's six-inning, seven- hit performance on the mound. Beckham had a tworun homer while Alford, Chancey and Jordan had hits. Gill added a double and Moseley was 2-2 with two RBIs. Pleasant Home 8, JHS 4 Jackson ended the tournament with a 8-4 loss to Pleasant Home. Chancey took the loss on the hill giving up six hits, eight runs (three earned) and striking out eight batters through four innings. Meitzler was 2-2; Chancey 2-2 with a double while Crayton and Moseley added one hit each. Gill had a double to round out the Aggie bats. "I thought we had a good tournament," Aggie coach Bob Bumpers said. "We would have loved to have won it. We finished third out of 14 teams. There were seven teams that were pretty close to be equal and we beat some of them and we lost some. "After the Samson loss we had a team meeting because I thought we had lost our focus. Then we came out and won four straight on Saturday," he said. "We just ran out of gas."
Jackson traveled to Thomasville Tuesday, March 11. The Aggies travel to Dothan Friday.
