Wagarville community hosts

Easter egg hunt

The community of Wagarville will host a community Easter egg hunt on Saturday, March 15. The hunt will take place in the Wagarville Park, with the fun beginning at 2 p.m.

Prizes will be given away and all families in the area are invited to come and spend an afternoon in the park. Bring your Easter basket and a buddy. Contact 247-1260 for any information.

CCERA to meet

The Clarke County Education Retirees Association will meet Thursday, March 20, 11:45 a.m. at the Fish House in Jackson. The program will be health/legal education. Also the nominating committee will present its slate of officers.

All members and interested friends are urged to attend.

The 2008 Annual Meeting will be conducted at the Cahaba Grand Conference Center on Tuesday, March 18.

Class of 1989 planning

a 20th reunion cruise

The Jackson High School Class of 1989 is preparing for a 20th reunion graduation cruise in 2009. A meeting will be conducted at the Jackson Steakhouse Saturday, March 29 at 5 p.m.

The Jackson High School Class of 1988 will have a meeting at the Jackson Steakhouse, Sunday, March 16 at 5 p.m., to plan their 20th class reunion, Classmates should plan to attend.

WCHS hosting Miss Maroon

& Gold Pageant

Washington County High School will host the Miss Maroon & Gold Pageant on Saturday, March 15. Admission for this event is $4 in advance or $5 at the door.

CCARC hosts

'Spring Jubilee 2008'

"Spring Jubilee 2008", celebrating the capabilities of individuals with cognitive disabilities, will be an event of Saturday, March 15, 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. CCARC's annual fund-raiser will include the 6th Annual 5K/1m Fun Walk at 8:30; and the 8th Annual "Cruisin' for CCARC" charity ride sponsored by the Clarke County chapter of Southern Cruisers, 10. John Rodgers with WMBV will be the guest emcee for the day.

Other events throughout the day will be a cake sale and cake walk, silent art and pottery auction, gumbo cook-off, dog costume contest, games, horse/buggy rides, entertainment and more.

March is also Mental Retardation and Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month with "Success - when doors open we succeed" as the theme. Scholarship applications

available

The Jackson Rotary Club has scholarship applications available for all juniors and seniors in Clarke and Washington counties.

To be eligible, applications must be postmarked and mailed by March 26, 2008 and mailed to P.O. Box 22 Jackson, AL 36545.

Clarke County Idol contest

March 15

The Pine City Park Committee is presenting a "Clarke County Idol" contest Friday, March 15, 7 p.m. at the Jackson High School auditorium. The application fee is $25, participants ages 12-19.

Salvation Army

The Salvation Army Social Service office is open on Wednesdays from 9-11 a.m. and 2-4 p.m. When in need of assistance with food and a variety of other needs, the office attempts to assist where they can. For additional information call 246-5693.

Narcotics Anonymous

Alcoholics Anonymous

Alcoholics Anonymous meetings are conducted in the fellowship hall of Visitation Catholic Church, West Clinton Street in Jackson Wednesdays, 6:30 p.m. and Saturdays, 9 a.m.

Diabetes classes

Heart of Dixie Collectors

Club meets last Monday

of month

The Heart of Dixie Collectors Club will meet the last Monday of every month at the Jackson Steakhouse at 7 p.m. in the meeting room. Collectors of all types are welcome in sharing their knowledge and collections.

Some collections may include but are not limited to Indian artifacts, coins, postcards, old paper, books, bottles, advertising memorabilia, etc. For additional information contact Earl Handley at (251) 247-2438.
