Longing for God more than anything else

Psalm 63:1 "O God, thou are my God; early will I seek thee: my soul thirsteth for thee, my flesh longeth for thee in a dry and thirsty land, where no water is."
A boy watched a holy man praying on the banks of a river. When he finished praying the boy went over and asked him, "Will you teach me to pray?" The holy man studied the boy's face. Then he gripped the boy's head in his hands and plunged it into the water. The boy struggled frantically, until the holy man released his hold. When the boy was able to catch his breath, he gasped, "What did you do that for?" The man replied, "When you long to pray as much as you longed to breathe while your head was underwater … only then will I be able to teach you to pray."
We need to have a longing for God instilled in us that overrides everything else in our life. When the church reaches the place that nothing else matters but reaching His throne room, we will begin to see miracles happen. When we want God more than anything … more than success, more than peace, even more than health … then we truly know how to reach Him and discover Him in His fullness.
