Church Calendar Preschool registration at First Baptist Jackson Registration for the 2008-2009 school year is in progress at First Baptist Church in Jackson for their weekday preschool program. Classes offered are 4K for children who will be 4 before Sept. 2, 2008. This class meets daily 8 a.m. until 12 noon. Mother's Day Out classes meet on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8 a.m. - 12 noon for children ages 6 months to 3 years old. Wild game meal and gospel singing at Mount Gilead On March 29 at 5 p.m. the Mount Gilead Baptist Church in Walker Springs will host a wild game meal and gospel singing. The evening begins with the meal and is followed by the gospel singing talents of Doug and Lydia Moesta of Pensacola, Fla. The duo's music ministry has taken them throughout the United States, Canada, Jamaica and Guatemala to venues including RV resorts, TV, radio, conferences, schools and prisons. They represent World Vision. Pastor William Allison and the Mount Gilead Church family invite everyone to come and enjoy the evening. 'At The Cross' to be presented at New Canaan New Canaan Baptist Church will host the Easter production "At The Cross," Sunday, March 23 at 10 a.m. Pastor Van Williams Sr. invites all to come and take part. A spring revival will be conducted March 24-28 at 7 nightly. The guest speaker for this event will be the Rev. Kelvin Maye, pastor of Williams Chapel Baptist Church of Mt. Vernon. Stave Creek Baptist sets VBS date Power Lab "Discovering Jesus' Miraculous Power" will be the theme of this year's Vacation Bible School at Stave Creek Baptist Church in Jackson. The Children's Ministry at the church has set the date for June 9-13 from 5:45-8:30 p.m. Children can be registered early for this event on June 8 at 5:45 p.m. Annual board meeting at Free Mission District Association The annual board meeting of Free Mission District Association is set for Saturday, March 15. All members of the association are asked to attend. The meeting will be conducted at the Bethlehem Baptist Church, said the Rev. Donald Sterling, pastor. New St. Matthew hosts spring revival The New St. Matthew Baptist Church of the Lilly Valley community of Jackson will present a spring revival March 24-26 at 7 nightly. Men and Women's Day to be Sunday Pastor Ivory James of Greater New Hope A.M.E. Church of Millry announces the Men and Women's Day Sunday, March 16 at 2:30 p.m. The guest speaker for this event will be the Rev. John A. Haley Jr., pastor of Gin Creek Baptist Church of Gilbertown and New Friendship Baptist Church of Leaksville, Miss. Stan Shuman to appear at Bassett Creek Baptist Bassett Creek Baptist Church will host a special Sunday night service, March 16, 6 p.m. featuring nationally acclaimed singer/songwriter Stan Shuman of Cocoa, Fla. Shuman has traveled with and written songs for many of the top groups in southern gospel music. Pastor Chris Kynard states, "Stan has not appeared in our area before. He is very ministry minded and his music will appeal to all ages. I hope that everyone who loves southern gospel music will come and enjoy this rare opportunity to worship with this minister of music." 'Gospel Explosion' at Leroy AOH Life Tech of Thomasville, Divine Unity of Walker Springs, Blessed Voices of Jackson and the Anointed and Appointed of Silas will be performing at the "Gospel Explosion" at Leroy AOH Church of God. Gilead Baptist Church of Carlton will host their annual youth day Sunday, March 23 at 11 a.m. Bryant Chapman will be the guest evangelist for the March 24-28 revival gathering at 7 each night. Clifton Williams will deliver a trial sermon at the fifth Sunday service, March 30 at 2:30 p.m. Easter sale at Caring Hearts Center The Caring Hearts Center in Washington County will be conducting a one-half price clothing sale, including underwear, purses and shoes priced 50-cents and above, March 17-21. There will also be a drawing for a free basket of miscellaneous items on Good Friday, March 21. Participants may register at the center until March 20 for the drawing. The center is located at 117 E. Front St. in Chatom. Hours of operation are 9 a.m. - 2 p.m., Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday; Thursday, 9 a.m. - 6 p.m. 'Then Came the Morning' will be Easter Sunday at Spring Hill Baptist Spring Hill Baptist Church in Chatom invites the community to attend their cantata "Then Came the Morning" Easter Sunday, March 23 at 11 a.m. The musical recounts the Easter story and that Jesus is the only one who can touch and change a life, said Pastor Kenneth Henson. Music director is Tony Cooley.
