Lady Demons' streak, championship hopes end in B'ham
"This team hasn't made a big thing out of it," Lady Demons coach Renard Davis said of the win streak. "Our fans were excited about us moving up with the wins, but it wasn't that big a thing with us. ... I'm proud of the girls." Spring Garden led the game from just about start to finish over the Lady Demons. Spring Garden's Paige Anderson was picked the game's MVP after lighting up McIntosh for 31 points and nine rebounds. "Since last year, we left here with a bad taste in our mouths," Spring Garden coach Ricky Austin said. "On the way home, I started thinking about what we needed to do. About a month ago, we started preparing (to face McIntosh). We started trying to get faster and quicker." The Demons return every starter from this year's team in 2009. Coach Davis thinks his team is ready for a new streak. "We will be back," he said.
Brittany Simmons scored a team-high 19 points for the Lady Demons. Jakia Reed added 11 points and 12 rebounds, and Valencia Reed had 10 points for the Demons.
