Aggies improve to 8-2
"I thought we started the tournament out leaving too many runners on base, Aggies coach Jason Jones said. "We really picked it up this weekend. We were getting big hits when we needed them," he said. Jackson 13, Millry 3 JHS routed the Millry Wildcats 13-3 in five-innings Tuesday, Feb. 26 thanks to 13 walks by Millry pitchers. William Taylor picked up his first win on the mound striking out five batters and giving up three runs in five innings of work. J.D. Mitchell had a double while Sam Harbuck, Will Stevens and Collin Perkins all added one hit and a RBI. Jackson 7, Demopolis 3 Cody Bayles (1-1) pitched a complete game giving up only three runs on four hits while striking out 13 to lead Jackson to a 7-3 win over Demopolis. Windham Jackson was 2-2 with two RBIs, Sam Harbuck had a single, a RBI and three runs scored and Kent Myer was 1-1 with a RBI to lead the Aggies at the plate. Jackson 12, Excel 1 Windham Jackson belted a three-run homer and Myer connected on a two-run blast as the Aggies knocked off Excel 12-1 in five-innings. Myer (1-1) picked up the win on the mound striking out eight Panthers while allowing only one run and three hits in five innings of work. Josh Kimbell was 2-3 to help pace the Aggie offensive attack. Jackson 15, Sweet Water 3 Sam Harbuck was 4-4 with a solo home run and two RBIs and Windham Jackson was 3-3 with a solo home run and three RBIs to lead the Aggies to a 15- 3 thrashing of the Sweet Water Bulldogs. Taylor (2-0) went 3 2/3- innings while allowing only one hit and three runs to improve to 2-0 on the season. Myer was 2- 3, Jeremy Armistead 2-3 with two RBIs and Josh Kimbell added a triple for Jackson at the plate. Jackson 14, CCHS 4 Jeremy Armistead broke up a one-run game with a grand slam in the fourth inning while Logan Breedlove tossed a nohitter in 3-2/3 innings to lead Jackson to a 14-4 win over Clarke County in the last game of the Tombigbee Classic. Breedlove struck out one batter while allowing one run on no hits in the win. Mitchell was 3-4 with a RBI to lead the Aggies at the plate. Freshman Windham Jackson continued to swing a hot bat going 2-4 with two runs scored. "I want to thank our fans for the support they showed during the Tombigbee Classic this past week. The coaches and the players really appreciate their support," Jones said. The Aggies host Andalusia Friday, March 8 at 6 p.m. with the junior varsity playing at 4 p.m.
Jackson travels to Demopolis Saturday, March 9 to play a doubleheader against Hale County and Demopolis. Game times are 1:30 and 4 p.m.
