Qualifying opens for June primary

The Washington County Democratic Party began qualifying candidates to run for local office on the Democratic Ticket in the June 3 Democratic primary Wednesday, March 5, in Chatom. The qualifying period will end on Friday, April 4, at 5 p.m.

Elections will be conducted for the offices of revenue commissioner, superintendent of education, county commission districts one, three and five. Qualifying fees are set at 2 percent of the annual salary.
