ACES presents 'Herb Gardening for the South' Tom Daugherty of the Alabama Cooperative Extension System will offer a presentation on growing and harvesting herbs March 11 at the Grove Hill United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall on Old Highway 43. Workshop at Kimbell House The Jackson Area Chamber of Commerce is hosting a High Impact Marketing Workshop today (March 6), 5:30 p.m. at the Kimbell House for area businesses. Representatives from The South Alabamian, the Radio Center, MediaCom and Web page design will be on hand to offer suggestions. To register call the chamber office at 251- 246-3251. Computer classes to be sponsored by chamber, library Computer education classes will be sponsored by the Jackson Area Chamber of Commerce and the White Smith Memorial Library teaching basic skills. Classes will be 10- 11:30 a.m. at the Alabama Southern Community College computer lab; Tuesday and Wednesday, March 11 and 12; Tuesday and Thursday, March 18 and 20; Tuesday and Thursday, March 25 and 27. WCHS hosting Miss Maroon & Gold Pageant Washington County High School will host the Miss Maroon & Gold Pageant on Saturday, March 15. Admission for this event is $4 in advance or $5 at the door. 'Coffee With Sylvia' cond ucted at Helms House The Grove Hill Area Chamber of Commerce and the Women's Business Center, Inc., will host a women's business and entrepreneur workshop today (March 6), from 10 -11 a.m. "Coffee With Sylvia" will be conducted by Sylvia Browder discussing the problems and solutions that women who own small businesses face. Team captains meet March 11 There will be a Jackson Relay for Life team captains' meeting on March 11, 5:30 p.m. in the Boise training center. All team captains should plan to attend. Women's League banquet is March 8 A reunion banquet will be conducted at the Pearce Memorial Park Assembly House for the Jackson Women's League March 8. There will be a catered dinner, silent auction and door prizes. J.R. Owen from Cool Rayz will be the featured entertainment. The Jackson Women's League has been serving the Pine City for 25 years. CCARC hosts 'Spring Jubilee 2008' "Spring Jubilee 2008", celebrating the capabilities of individuals with cognitive disabilities, will be an event of Saturday, March 15, 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. CCARC's annual fundraiser will include the 6th Annual 5K/1m Fun Walk at 8:30; and the 8th Annual "Cruisin' for CCARC" charity ride sponsored by the Clarke County chapter of Southern Cruisers, 10. John Rodgers with WMBV will be the guest emcee for the day. Other events throughout the day will be a cake sale and cake walk, silent art and pottery auction, gumbo cook-off, dog costume contest, games, horse/buggy rides, entertainment and more. Scholarship applications available The Jackson Rotary Club has scholarship applications available for all juniors and seniors in Clarke and Washington counties. Clarke County Idol contest March 15 The Pine City Park Committee is presenting a "Clarke County Idol" contest Friday, March 15, 7 p.m. at the Jackson High School auditorium. The application fee is $25, participants ages 12-19. Deadline for application is Feb. 25. Apply by contacting one of the school counselors or Karen Donald at 246-4028. General admission will be $5. Upcoming Sickle Cell fund-raisers On Friday, March 7, 7 p.m. the 50th Annual Ebony Fashion Fair will be presented at the Saenger Theater Center for the Living Arts in Mobile. Admission is $40. Heart of Dixie Collectors Club meets last Monday of month The Heart of Dixie Collectors Club will meet the last Monday of every month at the Jackson Steakhouse at 7 p.m. in the meeting room.
