Workshop at Kimbell House

The Jackson Area Chamber of Commerce is hosting a High Impact Marketing Workshop Thursday, March 6, 5:30 p.m. at the Kimbell House for area businesses. Representatives from The South Alabamian, the Radio Center, MediaCom and Web page design will be on hand to offer suggestions. To register call the chamber office at 251-246- 3251. There will be a $25 fee.

Computer classes to be sponsored by chamber and

library

Computer education classes will be sponsored by the Jackson Area Chamber of Commerce and the White Smith Memorial Library teaching basic skills. Classes will be 10-11:30 a.m. at the Alabama Southern Community College computer lab; Tuesday and Wednesday, March 11 and 12; Tuesday and Thursday, March 18 and 20; Tuesday and Thursday, March 25 and 27. To register call the chamber office at 246-3251. There will be a $60 fee.

Flag disposal March 1

Old United States flags will be properly disposed of Saturday, March 1, 10 a.m. at the VFW building on Club Wiley Road in Jackson. The Boy Scouts will be in charge of the ceremony. The public is invited to participate and may bring old U.S. flags no longer used because of their condition.

WCHS hosting Miss Maroon

& Gold Pageant

Washington County High School will host the Miss Maroon & Gold Pageant on Saturday, March 15. Admission for this event is $4 in advance or $5 at the door.

'Coffee With Sylvia' conducted

at Helms House

The Grove Hill Area Chamber of Commerce and the Women's Business Center, Inc., will host a women's business and entrepreneur workshop Thursday, March 6 from 10 -11 a.m. "Coffee With Sylvia" will be conducted by Sylvia Browder discussing the problems and solutions that women who own small businesses face.

Citronelle Class of 1978

plans reunion

The Citronelle High School Class of 1978 will meet Saturday, March 1, 5 p.m. at the Iron Skillet in Citronelle to plan their 30-year reunion. Graduates and non-graduates are welcome, along with teachers who worked at CHS during that year.

Team captains meet

March 11

There will be a Jackson Relay for Life team captains' meeting on March 11, 5:30 p.m. in the Boise training center. All team captains should plan to attend.

Women's League banquet

is March 8

Areunion banquet will be conducted at the Pearce Memorial Park Assembly House for the Jackson Women's League March 8. There will be a catered dinner, silent auction and door prizes. J.R. Owen from Cool Rayz will be the featured entertainment.

The Jackson Women's League has been serving the Pine City for 25 years.

Coffeeville RSVP to meet

The Coffeeville RSVP will meet Tuesday, March 4, 2 p.m., at the Nutrition Center. A representative from Infirmary Hospice will present a program on cold and flu health care.

FVFD conducts training

The Frankville Volunteer Fire Department (FVFD) will be providing a National Fire Insurance Reporting System (NFIRS) training class today (Feb. 28), 6:30 p.m. at the FVFD station. Assistant Fire Marshal Scott Pilgreen will be conducting the one and one-half hour training.

NFIRS is becoming mandatory for all departments to do a monthly electronic report to the Fire Marshall Office for all call outs. This will be a refresher course for some departments and a training program for all departments who have not used this system.

CCARC hosts Spring Jubilee

"Spring Jubilee 2008", celebrating the capabilities of individuals with cognitive disabilities, will be an event of Saturday, March 15, 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. CCARC's annual fund-raiser will include the 6th Annual 5K/1m Fun Walk at 8:30; and the 8th Annual "Cruisin' for CCARC" charity ride sponsored by the Clarke County chapter of Southern Cruisers, 10. Scholarship applications

available

The Jackson Rotary Club has scholarship applications available for all juniors and seniors in Clarke and Washington counties.

To be eligible, applications must be post marked and mailed by March 26, 2008 and mailed to P.O. Box 22 Jackson, AL 36545.

Students may receive applications from any Rotarian. For further information contact Althea Thomas at 251-246-4425, extension 236.

Clarke County Idol contest

March 15

The Pine City Park Committee is presenting a "Clarke County Idol" contest Friday, March 15, 7 p.m. at the Jackson High School auditorium. The application fee is $25, participants ages 12-19. Deadline for application is Feb. 25. Apply by contacting one of the school counselors or Karen Donald at 246-4028. General admission will be $5.

Upcoming Sickle Cell

On Friday, March 7, 7 p.m. the 50th Annual Ebony Fashion Fair will be presented at the Saenger Theater Center for the Living Arts in Mobile. Admission is $40.

Pine City Park update

The Pine City Park Committee is continuing fund-raising efforts for the new Jackson Park. The committee is planning a Clarke County Idol competition for March 15, 7 p.m. at the Jackson High School auditorium. Registration forms are available from local school counselors or by contacting Karen Donald at 246-4028.

Salvation Army

The Salvation Army Social Service office is open on Wednesdays from 9-11 a.m. and 2-4 p.m. When in need of assistance with food and a variety of other needs, the office attempts to assist where they can. For additional information call 246- 5693.
