Bears maul Tigers in sub-regional
Leroy jumped off to a 17-10 lead in the first quarter and held on down the stretch to win their fifth game out of their last six. "We are starting to score some points," Leroy coach Brian Henry said. "I think we are playing our best ball of the season right now. That's what we wanted. We are finally getting our basketball legs under us," he added. After the fast start by the Bears, Red Level battled back and cut the lead to one-point at 31-30 heading into intermission. Leroy started the second half off the same way they did to start the game and quickly went on a 12-2 extending their lead. "I will take runner-up in the county tournament and earn a trip to Troy for the regionals any day of the week," Henry said.
Leroy meets up with Houston County Feb. 20 at 7:30 p.m.
