The Leroy Lady Bears knocked off the Luverne Tigers 70-55 to advance to the South Regional in Troy Wednesday at 6 p.m.

Ada Collins scored 26 points and Chaniqua McMorris added 13 to help the Bears advance.

"I was able to watch Luverne on video and I thought we could handle them if we went out and played the way we are capable of playing," Leroy coach Connie Snow said.

" We gained some confidence during the game and then took a big lead in the third quarter and was able to slow the game down the rest of the way."

Leroy (18-9) takes on the defending state champions Samson in the first round Wednesday night.

"We played Samson this summer in our tournament. They have some good athletes but they aren't anything to be afraid of. They beat us by five," Snow said.
