Food to be focus of historical society meeting "Food and Southern Culture" will be the topic discussed when the Clarke County Historical Society meets at Grove Hill Town Hall Sunday, Feb. 24, 2:30 p.m. Folklorist and archivist Susan Thomas will offer her thoughts on the relationship between Southerners and their food traditions. Using a mixture of humor, storytelling and historical facts, Thomas will demonstrate how food plays an important role in shaping the Southern identity. Thomas, who has family ties to Clarke County, is a 2006 Community Scholar and volunteer for the Alabama Folklife Association.
The meeting is open to the public, and everyone is invited to attend.
