The Burger House catches fire
 | | The Jackson Fire Department responded to a fire at The Burger House, formerly Billy's Burger House, Friday, Feb. 15, around 8:30 p.m. Manager David Walker was reportedly alerted to the fire by a customer. Jackson Police diverted traffic away from the scene as firefighters worked to get to the fire, which is believed to have started in an exhaust vent. They were able to extinguish the fire before it spread, but were forced to cut a hole in the roof to ensure that it was out. Aheat-sensing camera was used to detect any hot spots. Trucks 1, 2, 3, 4 and 6 responded. Chief Neal Bradley and Assistant Chief Bobby Brooks were on the scene. In a statement sent to The South Alabamian, Walker expressed his gratitude to the Jackson Fire and Police departments for their efforts in putting out the fire. He assures customers that The Burger House will reopen for business in several weeks once repairs are made to the damaged portion of the building. (SA photo by Evan Carden) |
