What a difference a few days make! Spiritual Beliefs
Ecclesiastes 12 talks about old age. Eavesdrop with me as Solomon describes getting older. He said it was a time of: Shaky hands, for the keepers of the house tremble. Legs that lose their strength, or as he says it the strong men bow down… Losing your teeth! The grinders cease because they are few… Failing eyesight, as those that look through the windows grow dim.. You can't hear anything… the doors are shut in the streets, and the sound of grinding is low.. You lose your singing voice, or as he says it the daughters of music are brought low. And, to top it off, your hair turns gray! Solomon calls this, the almond tree blossoming… To be honest, that doesn't sound like all that inviting a proposition to me!
But, thank goodness Solomon gives us the secret to making old age not just bearable, but blessed! Twice he says, "remember your creator…" In other words, give your Creator the place in your life that He desires…the center. With Him at the center, life makes sense… even the very last of life here on planet Earth.
