Jackson tunes up against 'old timers'
"Overall we were pleased," Aggie coach Jason Jones said. "It gave us a chance to scrimmage against someone other than ourselves but also a chance for past players to return." With temperatures soaring around 70 degrees, many of the Aggie faithfull packed the bleachers to catch a glimpse of the new and old Aggies. "We had a great crowd and beautiful day. It was a great day for Aggie baseball," Jones said. The varsity picked up an 11- 2 win in the first game and closed out with a 6-1 win over the veterans. Jeremey Reeves was 2-3, J.D. Mitchell belted a solo home run, Kent Meyer and Jamie Eckstein had one hit and a RBI each, Cody Bayles had a two-run single, Collin Perkins had a RBI single and William Taylor was 2-3 for Jackson.
"We have had some guys with sore arms but we are healthy right now. We are trying to fine-tune everything and get ready to go to Andalusia. They always have a good club. I think this is the deepest team we have ever had. Even better than last year. We don't have a Jon Luke Jacobs, but we have a bunch of young guys that can contribute," Jones said.
