ThyssenKrupp names communications director

ThyssenKrupp Steel USA, LLC, recently announced that it has hired a director of communications to oversee communications and government relations for the carbon steel segment of its new carbon steel and stainless steel facility being developed in Calvert.

The facility is part of a $3.7 billion processing complex scheduled to begin operations in 2010.

Scott Posey brings to the company over 15 years of experience around the Southeast in public relations, community and governmental affairs, many of those years in Mobile and Montgomery, where he served formerly as the vice president of Governmental and Community Affairs for the Mobile Area Chamber of Commerce and as chief of staff for the Alabama Public Service Commission. He will serve the senior management team at ThyssenKrupp Steel USA.

"As we move into the construction and operations phases of our new facility, we are committed to building even stronger relationships locally, regionally and nationally, and welcome the depth of experience and knowledge that Scott brings to our team," said Bob Soulliere, president and CEO of ThyssenKrupp Steel USA, LLC.

In May 2007, ThyssenKrupp announced that it would build a new state-of-the-art steel and stainless steel processing facility in Alabama. Company executives and national, state and local leaders broke ground in November 2007 and the company announced opportunities for employment earlier this month. The facility will process carbon steel and stainless steel for high-value applications by manufacturers in the U.S. and throughout North America.

The new facility is considered to be one of the largest private industrial development projects in the United States over the next decade.
