Chatom adopts ordinances and awards two contracts
By Frank Harwell SA Correspondent

The Chatom Town Council awarded two contracts and adopted a revised zoning ordinance during its January meeting.

Boyles Roofing and Sheet Metal in Waynesboro, Miss., won the contract for adding a new roof on the old armory with a bid of $46,858. A Hattiesburg, Miss., company bid almost $70,000. This contract is for only the high portion of the roof.

Crager Construction of Chatom won the contract for sidewalk construction and repairs with a quote of $18,020. Mayor Harold Crouch said bids are not required on public works projects costing less than $50,000.

The council also adopted an ordinance regulating the establishment of trailer parks. The ordinance has been published in the local newspaper, and no objections to it were voiced, said the mayor.
