Separate wrecks injure two
 | | Two separate, recently, wrecks on U.S. Highway 43 caused minor injuries to two people. Top photo: The first incident occurred Friday around 6:30 p.m., when a 1990 Honda Civic, driven by Guatemalan native Juan Ramos, 22, of Grove Hill, ran into the rear of a 2004 Lexus LS4, driven by Laura M. Miller, 27, of Fairhope. The impact totaled Ramos' vehicle and sent Miller's car into the rear of a 2001 Ford F-15 pickup driven by John T. Massey, 51, of Grove Hill. Miller and Massey were stopped at the red light at Highway 43 and Walker Springs Road. Ramos sustained minor injuries and was treated and released at Jackson Medical Center. He was also arrested and charged with DUI and it was discovered he is an illegal immigrant. According to Chief Charles Burge, the U.S. Department of Immigration has begun deportation proceedings. Below, Richard P. Chesser, 42, of Jackson suffered what appeared to be non-life-threatening injuries when his 2003 Yamaha 650 motorcycle collided with a 1999 Chrysler 300 driven by Debra G. Perine, 50, of Jackson. Perine was headed south on 43 and attempted to make a left turn onto Industrial Road, pulling into the path of Chesser, who was headed north. Chesser was transported by ambulance to Jackson Medical Center for treatment. (Top photo by Evan Carden; bottom photo by Chris Sherman) |
