This event is the major fund-raiser which supports the library program. The Friends meet year-round, but really begin the push for the art auction in January. However, paintings and other art forms are in progress throughout the year. The theme for this year's auction is "Catch the Reading Bug." Some of the highly sought after items at this year's auction are: Scott House bedroom furniture, an antique curio cabinet, Genevieve Southerland paintings and artworks of other well-known Gulf Coast artists. The tickets are $30 which includes a meal and admission to the auction. Silent bidding begins at 5:30 followed by the meal and live auction. (SA photo by Ellen Williams) |
