Leathers tapped as CFO of Austal USA

AGrove Hill man has been named chief financial officer for a mega shipbuilding company headquartered in Mobile that is anticipating major growth.

Brian Leathers was tapped to be CFO of Austal USA a few weeks ago and started his new job Monday. He is the first CFO of the Mobile shipyard.

Leathers has worked for First United Security Bank and its subsidiary, Acceptance Loan Company for several years. Most recently he was senior vice president and CFO of Acceptance Loan.

Austal learned just this past week that it is one of three manufacturers competing to build up to eight high-speed transport ferries for the United States Navy.
