BOE vote on policy manual is delayed
By Ellen Williams SA Reporter

The Washington County Board of Education met on Feb. 1, in what was supposed to be a regular board meeting followed by a work session to deal strictly with the policy manual. John Osburn, a consultant, was on hand to assist the board in the changes they desired to make.

However, after the short regular meeting the board went into executive session to deal with a disciplinary referral from Washington County High School which lasted an hour and 40 minutes.

This resulted in Osburn's only getting to make cursory remarks and no action was taken on the policy manual. He will return for another policy manual session.

Actions by the board

The board took the following actions in the regular meeting:

•Recognized the county Spelling Bee winner, Drake Stringer of Leroy High School.

•Accepted quotes for Cisco Network Equipment.

•Approved a family medical leave for Kate Busby.

•Accepted the resignation of April Reed, CNP worker at McIntosh.
