Grove Hill writers group to write play
By Ellen Williams SA Reporter

At the January 27 meeting of the Grove Hill Historical Society, Dr. Jim Herrod, director of the Grove Hill Writers Group, announced the writing of a play by the group based on the attack of Fort Sinquefield by Creek warriors. This historical incident took place in 1813. Fort Sinquefield is an important piece of Clarke County History.

Herrod introduced Terry Norris who explained that several groups connected with the Grove Hill Arts Council have joined forces to write and produce this drama. The play will not be a musical as such, but will have some original music included. Local musicians are contributing their talent for this portion of the play.

Annell Gordon of the writers group described some of the actual historical characters connected with Fort Sinquefield and briefly described how the writers hope to weave their story into the drama.

Although the play will be historical fiction, the writers plan to keep the plot within the realm of "what possibly could have happened," according to Jim Smith.

The title of the play is "Another Hill to Climb." No time frame was given for the completion, but sometime in 2009 is the goal.
