Aggies win area championship

      The Jackson Aggies' boys basketball team won their second straight 4A Area 1 championship and third in four years with a 74-63 win Tuesday night in Thomasville. Jackson started off the game on fire jumping out to a 20-10 lead after the first quarter.

Jackson Dixie League officers announced; sign-up scheduled

      Jackson Dixie League officers were announced last week with Will Blount taking over as Dixie League president. Ivan Pezent is vice president and Dawn Rinders is secretary and treasurer. The new board members are James Bayles, Dan Allen, Keith Mitchell, Fred Bryant and Brian Reeves.

Brown gets first buck
     Jake Brown, age 12, killed his first buck recently while hunting in the Rockville area. He shot the spike while hunting with his cousins Jacob Brown and William Taylor. Jake is the son of Amy and John Brown of Jackson.

     Lance Criswell, age 7, killed his second buck when he bagged this six point, Dec. 2, in Walker Springs while hunting with his dad. He is the son of Miranda and Tony Criswell of Jackson.

Eagles' boys lose three; girls win two

      The Jackson Academy Eagles' boys varsity basketball team suffered three tough losses this week to fall to 1-13 on the season. Escambia Academy visited JA Tuesday, Jan. 15 and knocked off the Eagles 84-45. David Hughston was the leading scorer with 14 points for JA.

Lady Bears win area with win over Flomaton

      The Leroy Lady Bears won the 2A Area 1 championship with a 61-40 win over Flomaton Friday, Jan. 18 in Leroy. The win improved Leroy's record to 12-7 and 6-0 in area play. Ada Collins was the leading scorer with 24 points while Shaniqua McMorris added 12.
