In search of Harry Toulmin
An archaeological expedition led by Dr. Lewellyn Toulmin recently began in Washington County to uncover more information about Judge Harry Toulmin, who is credited with writing the first Digest of Laws of Alabama in 1823. He served as judge of the Tombigbee District of the Mississippi Territory from 1804- 1819. Top photo: A historical marker about Toulmin is located beside Mt. Carmel Church.
