Church Calendar Rev. Moore encourages C.L.S. participation The Christian Leadership School (C.L.S.) is certified through the National Baptist Congress of Christian Education and available to all churches and church memberships interested in Christian education. The Rev. D.W. Moore, dean of the program, of Mt. Olive Baptist Church No. 2, encourages all those who are interested in the program to call 246-9458 for more information. Matt. 28:19-20 3Cs Coalition hosts first 2008 meeting The 3Cs Coalition, Inc. is city, community and church leaders working together toward one common goal, unity. The group will host its first meeting of 2008 Saturday, Jan. 26 at the Mt. Olive No. 2 Baptist Church of Jackson from 10 a.m. - 12 noon. Election of officers will take place during this meeting. Robert Dean, president and the Rev. D.W. Moore, vice president, invite all to attend. Friendship Missionary celebrates Family and Friends Day Pastor Charlie J. White and the Friendship Missionary Baptist Church of Leroy invite the community to worship with them on Sunday, Jan. 27 at 3 p.m. to celebrate Family and Friends Day. The guest speaker and special guests for this program will be the Rev. Donald Reed, pastor of the New Union Baptist Church of Coffeeville and his church family. Senior Choir anniversary at Pine Chapel No. 2 Pine Chapel Baptist Church No. 2 will celebrate their Senior Choir anniversary on Sunday, Feb. 10 at 2:30 p.m. All choirs, groups and soloists are invited to attend rendering an A & B selection. The Rev. Cleveland Williams is interim pastor, Deacon Charles Johnson, minister of music and Sister Bridget Moye, choir president. 'Disciple Now '08' scheduled at First Baptist Church in Jackson "Disciple Now '08" is scheduled for Jan. 25-27 at First Baptist Church in Jackson. This is an event for youth in grades 6-12 to fellowship, have fun and grow in their relationship with Christ. During the weekend, students will be housed in homes according to grade levels, as well as participate in worship services and activities at First Baptist. The theme for the weekend in RENOVATE, based on the Scripture 2 Corinthians 5:17. This also goes along with the current renovation plans at the church involving the old sanctuary. The special guest speaker will be Chad Poe from Chattanooga, Tenn., camp pastor at the youth camp, Centifuge, that First Baptist youth attended this past summer in Mississippi, Poe's messages are directly aimed toward youth. Special guests for music will be Steve "Opie" Thomas and his band. Opie also led worship at the same summer camp. There will be 19 college-aged student leaders leading in-home Bible studies with the students for the weekend. FBC students, parents and staff invite all youth in the surrounding area to participate in Disciple Now. Registration will continue at First Baptist Church through Jan. 25. Applications are available in the church office. Cost for the weekend is $20 and includes all meals, a T-shirt and all other weekend activities. All are invited to attend. Wagarville Baptist sponsors Wagarville Park cleanup A clean-up day had been planned on Saturday, Jan. 26 for the old Wagarville School playground and ballpark. All Wagarville residents and those interested from around the area are asked to come and help restore the park. Bring yard tools, gloves, garbage bags and a community spirit.
A marshmallow and hot dog roast will follow in the evening. The clean-up will begin at 8 a.m. and is sponsored by Wagarville Baptist Church. For more information call 251-533-7068.
