Lady Bears improve to 5-0 in area play

Leroy's Lady Bears improved to 10-6 and 5-0 in 2A Area 1 with wins against Bayside and Flomaton and a loss to McIntosh.

The Lady Bears met up with the defending 1A state champion McIntosh Demons on Tuesday, Jan. 8 in McIntosh and fell 51-41 after leading 13- 11 at intermission. Ada Collins scored 14 points to lead the Bears. Megan Goldman had nine, Shunette Adams seven and Ashley Snow added five for Leroy.

Brittanee Simmon had a game-high 27 points for McIntosh and Velencia Reed chipped in with 17 for the Demons.

The Bears rebounded with a 48-41 road win over the Flomaton Hurricanes Friday, Jan. 11, to improve to 4-0 in area play. Chaniqua McMorris led all scorers with 13 for Leroy. Collins had 12 while Goldman and Jackie Howell each had 11 points.

Leroy faced off with the Bayside Admirals in a make-up game Monday night in Leroy and prevailed with a 61-52 win to remain unblemished in area play.

Collins scored 23 points while Howell added 16 to lead Leroy.

Leroy visited Coffeeville Tuesday, Jan. 15 and host Flomaton Friday, Jan. 18.
