Bears torch Flomaton, fall to McIntosh, Bayside

The Leroy Bears were on fire against the Flomaton Hurricane Friday, Jan. 11, winning 71-56 but saw their offense fizzle in losses to McIntosh and Bayside to send the Bears' record to 4-8 on the season.

Leroy traveled to McIntosh Tuesday, Jan. 9, and lost a 61-60 heartbreaker to the Demons. Leroy jumped out to a 28-22 lead in the first half before collapsing in the second half. Patrick Rivers was the leading scorer for Leroy with 11 points while Lawrence Powell and Derick Johnson added 10 for the Bears. Kali Crayton had 18 and Eric Jenkins 15 to lead McIntosh.

The Bears rebounded with a 71-56 win over Flomaton Friday, Jan. 11 on the road. Powell tallied 20 points and Derrick Johnson added 14 to lead Leroy in scoring.

Bayside Academy downed LHS 60-50 Monday, Jan. 14, in Leroy. Rivers led Leroy with 16 points while Powell added 12.

"We went to Flomaton and played really well on offense. Then against Bayside we didn't shoot very good. We are 2-3 in the area and that hurts. But we are getting our basketball legs under us," coach Brain Henry said.

Leroy was scheduled to travel to Coffeeville Tuesday, Jan 15. before hosting Flomaton Friday, Jan. 18 in Leroy.
